Sachin Tendulkar, only Indian in Shahid Afridi's 'All-time XI'

Shahid Afridi all-time XI: It comprises of Adam Gilchrist and Sachin to open. Ricky Ponting, Brian Lara and Kumar Sangakkara also feature in the coveted list, apart from country-mate Inzamam-ul-Haq

Shahid Afridi, thanks to his craft with the ball and his belligerent way off batting inspired a generation from a terror-ridden land of Pakistan. Shahid Afridi has given them many moments to cherish and in a way he decided the mood of the nation, much like what Sachin Tendulkar did for India over a period of two decades. Sachin is arguably the best batsman the world has witnessed on the cricket field. He has been an inspiration for billions in India. Afridi, popularly known as ‘boom-boom’ sprung to limelight, when he smashed Sri-Lanka for a 37-ball 100, which was unheard of till then. That is what shot him to limelight. He has recently called it a day but he has gone through the ups and downs of Pakistan cricket. India take on Pakistan in some time for now in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 and these two protagonists have had umpteen Indo-Pak encounters and know the intensity of it.

Shahid Afridi XI

Shahid Afridi XI (Sachin Tendulkar at the top)

Lately, Shahid Afridi has revealed his all-time favourite XI and Sachin Tendulkar is the only Indian name that features in that list, which comprises of Adam Gilchrist and Sachin to open. Ricky Ponting, Brian Lara and Kumar Sangakkara also feature in the coveted list, apart from country-mate Inzamam-ul-Haq. That is a delicious top order one may say. Jacques Kallis seems to be the sole allrounder.

The bowling looks ferocious as well, Shane Warner will take care of the seam department. The pace battery has riches like Wasim Akram, someone with whom Shahid Afridi has played a lot with, there is Country Walsh, the West Indian who has played against Afridi, apart from the ever so economical Glenn McGrath to round up the list.
