Sridevi was just not a star she was a phenomenon that ruled the 90s!

The evergreen actress died on Saturday night after a cardiac arrest in Dubai, according to family sources. The actor, who has two daughters Janhavi and Khushi, was apparently with her husband when she breathed her last. The actor was 54 and had gone to UAE to attend the wedding ceremony of a nephew, Mohit Marwah. The news was met with shock and mourning from across the country.

The 250-film veteran had an illustrious career, spanning 45 years. Her last film was ‘Mom’ in 2016.

According to Indianexpress.com, Sridevi’s brother-in-law, Sanjay Kapoor was quoted as saying, “Yes, it is true that Sridevi passed away. I just landed here, I was in Dubai and now I am flying back to Dubai. It happened roughly around 11.00-11.30. I don’t know more details yet.”

Her death has evoked a number of emotional reactions and condolence messages from top Indian celebrities ranging from Bollywood to senior politicians.

Stars from the sports world were also quick to express their shock over Sridevi’s death. From cricket world, former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar led the bandwagon.

Speaking to ANI, Tendulkar said, “It is really, really sad. When I woke up and read about it, it is really sad. I have no words to express to what I feel because we all grew up watching her and suddenly to hear that she is no longer with us, it is hard to digest that. My condolences to her family members and everyone, who has followed her career. Loved her for everything she was and everything she did for us.”
