Rahul Dravid's son Samit Dravid and Sunil Joshi's son Aryan Joshi score 150s in Karnataka Under-14 tournament!

Samit Dravid and Aryan Joshi shined as they both scored centuries in an Under-14 tournament

Former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid got his birthday gift from son Samit Dravid in advance. Dravid Jr scored 150 runs in the Karnataka Cricket Association’s BTR Cup Under-14 tournament. However, Samit was not the only former Indian cricketer to hit a ton in that match. Former Indian cricketer Sunil Joshi’s son Aryan Joshi too scored a quickfire 154 which helped Mallya International School post a massive score of 500 for 5 in 50 overs against Vivekananda School.

The massive target of 501 turned out to be too far-fetched for the opposing team as they succumbed under the pressure of a big total. The Mallya International School bowling attack wrapped up the innings as Vivekananda School got bundled out for just 88 runs. Samit-Aryan’s team won the match by a huge margin of 412 runs.

This is not the first instance where Samit has impressed with the bat. Earlier, he made headlines in April 2016 when he scored 125 with 12 boundaries and formed a partnership of 213 runs with Pratyush Girish.

Contrary to Rahul’s defensive style of batting, Samit has had a reputation of an attacking batsman hammering the bowlers right from the start.

Despite being a star kid, the Under-19 coach does not try to coach him differently or give special treatment. In an old interview with Times of India, he said,

He’s okay, he’s got good hand-eye coordination. But no, he just smashes it and that is what I encourage him to do – just smash it. I don’t really get into trying to coach him too much. I just want him to enjoy it and just play the game, have some fun with it. He plays different sports at the moment, which is good – he plays football and cricket, he swims. So that’s nice. He is too young at the moment for anything more.

Rahul will turn 45 on January 11. ‘The Wall’ is currently coaching India’s Under-19 team who will be kicking off their Under-19 World Cup campaign against Australia on January 14.
