'Rahul Dravid As Next India Coach,' Twitterati Urge BCCI To Sack Ravi Shastri

Shastri faced criticism on Twitter after Virat Kohli faced his worst ever defeat in Test cricket

Following Team India’s poor show in the opening Test matches against England, cricket fans have requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to sack the present coach Ravi Shastri and appoint former Indian batsman Rahul Dravid as the new coach.

Shastri faced criticism on Twitter after Virat Kohli faced his worst ever defeat in Test cricket. India lost the second Test match against England at Lord’s by an innings and 159 runs on the fourth day of the play.

Dravid holds a special place among Indian cricket fans. Known as ‘The Wall’, Dravid holds some amazing stats against England.

He is the only captain after Kapil Dev (1986) and Ajit Wadekar (1971) to win a Test series in England.

During his stint with the Indian team, Dravid played about 21 matches on England soil and has scored over 1900 runs at an average of more than 60 with seven 100s and eight 50s.

On August 12, when India faced an innings defeat at Lord’s, several cricket fans took to Twitter to express their anguish over the team’s disappointing performance. A few even demanded Dravid be appointed as the next coach of the Indian team.

Here are some of the reactions:

With a loss in the second Test match, India are now trailing the five match series 0-2. They have to win the third Test match to keep them alive in the series.

The third Test match will start on August 18 at the Trent Bridge.
