He spoke to PTI exclusively and said, “Sindhu is just 21 and I think she will take us through for the next few years and by the time she is 25, we will figure something. I don’t want to pick a junior name right now, but I can assure you that four years from now we will have solid bench strength in women’s singles,” Gopichand told PTI.

Speaking about other talents in the country he said, “It will take a little time, we have prospects like Ruthvika and Rituparna, who also have the potential of doing well. There are others in the ranks. I think it is not easy to produce players back to back.”

Hello and welcome to the live blog of scores during the match between India’s Olympic medalist PV Sindhu and Carolina Marin of Spain. It is all-set to be a rollicking Sunday, as crowds will in some time from now start flocking the Sirifort Auditorium to watch chapter 10 between the two top baddies of the globe unfold. The two badminton queens have met nine times before, Marin holds the edge 5-3, but it was PV Sindhu who won the last international ties when the two met just after Rio at Dubai. In that match Marin was carrying an injury. Come today, Marin will be roaring for victory, come what may. On the other hand, PV Sindhu too has been in good form, defeating country-mate Saina Nehwal in the quarters and then she was stretched in a three-set semis, that means she has had good court time and will be raring to change history.

Marin is pretty used to the Indian conditions as she also plays in India in the Premier Badminton League.
