The 19-year-old leg-spinner from Afghanistan, Rashid Khan, is currently in his prime form. He ended the Indian Premier League 2018 with superb bowling figures under his name. Many legendary cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar, Shane Warne, among others have already declared him the best spinner in T20 format and termed him the next sensation in spin bowling.

Recently, Rashid appeared on the web series, ‘Breakfast With Champions’, hosted by Gaurav Kapur.

During the show, the Afghan leggie opened up about himself, his family and also divulged a bit of dressing room secrets.

Rashid, who is currently in India for a one-off Test match, said that during the IPL season 2018 he was left stunned when his franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad’s bowling coach and former Sri Lankan spin legend, Muttiah Muralitharan praised him for his talent.

“ I was left stunned when Murali sir (Muttiah Muralitharan) told me that I’ve more talent than him,” Rashid told Gaurav.

During the conversation, Rashid also shared his journey from being selected for domestic cricket to being picked up by SRH for a whopping Rs 4 crore during the IPL 2017 auctions.

“It all happened in a span of one year. First I got picked up for domestic cricket then I got a call for representing Afghanistan during Zimbabwe tour and in few months I was playing IPL,” Rashid said.

The Afghan bowler also told Gaurav that before joining cricket, he wanted to be a doctor. Rashid also revealed that he worked as a teacher for a period of nearly six months.

Meanwhile, Rashid started his Test cricket career on an expensive note as he managed to pick only two wickets by giving away 154 runs in the first innings against India at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
