Jofra Archer Spoils Eoin Morgan's Career-Best Score With Hat-trick At Lord's

Jofra Archer dazzles in last-over finish at Lord's with a hat-trick

Jofra Archer has already been considered as one of the best upcoming fast bowlers in international cricket. At first, it was Big Bash League (BBL), followed by Pakistan Super League (PSL), Indian Premier League and now T20 Blast (England). Archer made a mark in the T20 tournament with a hat-trick in the last over and that too at Lord’s cricket ground, London.

The express bowler was given the task of defending 14 runs off the last over which is quite achievable in T20 cricket. Middlesex skipper Eoin Morgan was in tremendous touch having registered his career-best T20 score in an innings.

Sussex pacer stood up to the task and gave just two singles off the first two balls of the match. Morgan was anxious and he had to go for a big hit to keep the match alive. The left-hander went for a big shot but found the long off fielder who took the catch comfortably.

With 12 runs needed off the 3 balls, John Simpson had to go for a slog. Archer bowled a snooter of a yorker uprooting the off stump. The tailender James Fuller tried to use the pace of the ball but got trapped right in front of the stumps. At the end, he gave just 3 runs in the over and picked up the first hat-trick of the tournament.

The 23-year-old was delighted to get a hat-trick at the Home of Cricket, he said,

To get a hat-trick, I can’t really believe it – especially for a domestic T20 as well, it’s not like it’s an international game and I’m really honoured to hear that they want to put my shirt in the museum here at Lord’s.

Archer has played for Windies at Under-19 level. Though he wishes to play for England and is going through the 7-year process which makes him eligible to don the Three Lions jersey.

Even Morgan is impressed by Archer’s fast bowling and thinks that he will be a valuable addition to the England squad. He played for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2018. The Barbados-origin cricketer was roped in for a whopping 7.2 crore which was justified by his performances in the tournament taking RR to the eliminator.
