Joe Root to Rashid Khan, base prices of players revealed ahead of IPL 2018 player auction

There were a few surprises among the players with base price falling in Rs 1 crore or above brackets ahead of the IPL 2018 player auction

A total of 1,112 players from all around the world have signed up for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 auction. There is a big pool of overseas players despite the fact that only 8 overseas players per franchise are allowed to be picked. This means that a maximum 64 overseas players will be getting a track in this year’s auction.

The base prices of players have been revealed and a few names might surprise you. For example, England skipper Joe Root has opted for a base price of Rs 1.5 crore instead of choosing a base price of Rs 2 crore. Root has the potential to lead any team and a few teams might see their potential captain in him. On the other hand, Tymal Mills did not increase his base price despite bagging a Rs 12 crore deal in the previous edition.

Only 36 players (including 23 overseas players) have decided to opt for a base price of Rs 2 crore. Rashid Khan moved up the ladder as he opted for a higher base price than before. Given his current form, he might become the most expensive spinner in the history of the league.

Indian players like Yuzvendra Chahal (Rs 2 crore), Washington Sundar (Rs 1.5 crore) and Mohammad Siraj (Rs 1 crore) too decided to raise their base prices ahead of the auction.
