IPL 2018: Hardik Pandya's Bat Flying To Square Leg Leaves Duminy, Karthik Confused — Watch

IPL 2018, MI vs KKR, Match 37: Hardik Pandya literally loses his bat while trying to hit the ball for a boundary

The stakes are always high in the last over of an innings whether a team is setting a target or chasing one. Batsmen want to extract as many runs as they can from every ball and that makes them play few unorthodox shots which surprises quite a few. In the last over of first innings in Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clash, Pandya tried to slog every ball from Prasidh Krishna. In an attempt to do that, things got a little out of Pandya’s hand, quite literally!

Prasidh bowled a wide yorker to which Pandya went back to the crease and tried to muscle it over the covers. However, Pandya failed miserably as the ball took an outside edge and the bat went flying out of his hand towards square leg. This created confusion between Pandya and non-striker Jean-Paul Duminy as he wanted to take a single.

Dinesh Karthik was quick on feet and denied the all-rounder a single. The mix-up left commentators laughing. This was not the first time Pandya lost control of the bat. Earlier in the innings, he struck a one-handed-six off Piyush Chawla’s bowling in the 13th over.
