IPL 2018: Prithvi Shaw Becomes Youngest To Score IPL 50, Twitterati Say 'Tendulkar Re-Born'

IPL 2018, DD v KKR: This young guy has a long way to go, just hope and pray he keeps up the good work

Prithvi Shaw, aged 18 years 169 days, has become the youngest cricketer to score a half-century in the Indian Premier League ever. This is a massive record for the U19 World Cup-winning captain, who is taking giant strides in international cricket. He went past Sanju Samson, who held the record prior to Prithvi. Coincidentally, Samson was also 18 years 169 days old at the time of setting the record.

Meanwhile, there has been a lot of chopping and changing in the Daredevils camp. They are currently last in the points table, and citing this, Gautam Gambhir stepped down as captain, nominating Shreyas Iyer to take over the mantle.

Young Prithvi scored a handsome 62 off 44 balls.

Earlier, KKR won the toss and opted to bowl first, Gambhir was dropped but we do not know the reason why. Daredevils lost Munro after a brisk start. He lost his wicket to a pacy ball from Shivam Mavi.

For KKR, this is an important match as they slowly but surely enter the last phase of the league. KKR have won three and they have a good record at Kotla, something they would like to keep intact after today’s match. As we speak, Daredevils have lost Munro and Prithvi, they are 140 for 3 in 15 overs.

Here is how Twitterati responded to Prithvi’s brilliance:

This young guy has a long way to go, just hope and pray he keeps up the good work.
