Otherwise, Shreyas Iyer is a noble guy at least by the looks of it. But, what he did in today’s match may force you to think otherwise about the young, promising cricketer. Delhi Daredevils is locking horns with Rising Pune Supergiant and both the teams are looking to solidify their spot for the playoffs. For RPS, they are in the quest of a top-two finish and for DD it is a conquest of making it to the playoffs. Both the teams are in good form entering this match. Delhi Daredevils won the toss and opted to bat first. They got off to a wobbly start but then they pulled things back thanks to Nair’s knock, which took them to a spot of respectability. They set 168 for for RPS to chase.
But, what caught our attention is something that was strange. It happened when RPS were batting and Smith was on strike. The score was 21 for one. Smith hit the ball in the deep, square on the leg side. Iyer ran to his right and covered 10-15 metres and then stopped the ball, inches from the rope in an acrobatic manner. The pretty cheerleaders who were doing their job just behind, felt scared and took evasive action as you can see in the video. They were not harmed, thankfully. Iyer got the praise of his captain Zaheer Khan as he had saved a couple of important runs which could be so crucial in such an important encounter.
