Indian Premier League 2017: JSW's Sajjan Jindal wants to buy an IPL team, & we also learn that he was eyeing for something of this sought from 2015 itself

He as an industrialist won’t be the first one and of course the last one. With news pouring in, we get to hear that JSW Steel Chairman Sajjan Jindal is looking to venture into the Indian Premier League biz. Actually, he wants to buy an IPL team, and we also learn that he was eyeing for something of this sought from 2015 itself.

In a recent interview, his newly-wed son Parth Jindal said, “We are looking at IPL as a big opportunity. There are a couple of franchises, which we know, are looking to exit. So, we are actively looking at that.”

Parth said there is a huge in interest in IPL of late that is reflected in the recent deals, like the one signed by Chinese mobile handset maker Oppo.

He further said there is also a talk of a soon-to-be sealed TV deal being signed at three times the earlier size.

But apparently what happened to Royal Challengers Bangalore owner Vijay Mallya, they put their plans on standby.“The IPL will be a profit-making venture. I think all IPL teams will make money,” Parth said.

Talking of greener pastures, he said, “Cricket does not need any investing, (it) has enough money already.”

Sajjan Jindal takes apt interest in sports an is an avid marathon runner.

The 10-year-old IPL held during the summer holidays attracts a massive viewership. Some of the IPL teams are owned by prominent industrial groups, hence atryst with IPL was always on the cards, looking at the financial aspect.
