IPL Betting Racket: The police are investigating into this matter and looking at all the phone records to see if they have left any trail. They were nabbed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel

Last week there were reports that bookies have been trying to tamper the pitch and pass on crucial information about the pitch in Kanpur. Now 9 have been held by Delhi police from the national capital of New Delhi. This just goes on to show that this is a huge network working and these are small fries. The bookies were caught at point-blank range with a secret book displaying the betting rates in detail, two betting boxes and a dozen mobile phones have been recovered. The police are investigating into this matter and looking at all the phone records to see if they have left any trail. They were nabbed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, New Delhi.

The crime branch caught the bookies red-handed along with a book displaying betting rates, two betting boxes and 10 mobile phones from the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

According to reports, these men were engaged in gambling over phone and internet.

They were booked for allegedly betting on the IPL final match between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) in Hyderabad, which the Rohit Sharma-led side won by 1 run.

On May 11, three bookies, Ramesh Shah, Vikas Chauhan and Ramesh were caught along with cash worth Rs. 4,40,000, two mobiles and a diary from Landmark Hotel in Kanpur.

The arrest had come ahead of the IPL clash to be played between Delhi Daredevils and Gujarat Lions at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium. Both teams were staying at the Landmark Hotel from where the bookies were apprehended.
