IPL 2017: 'Upset' Suresh Raina reacts on BCCI's decision to ignore him for CLT20 squad, says 'disappointed'

BCCI Selection Committee-led by Chairman M.S.K. Prasad on May 8 announced the 15 member squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy

Indian middle order batsman Suresh Raina, who has been in fine form in the ongoing Indian Premier League season 10, on May 9 said that he was disappointed after he failed to make the cut in the 15-member Indian squad for the upcoming Champions League.

BCCI Selection Committee-led by Chairman M.S.K. Prasad on May 8 announced the 15 member squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in England and Wales.

“What can I say now? It’s really disappointing and hurting. I was expecting a comeback call this time, have been performing well and consistently, proving myself in the ongoing IPL season. Certainly, it is not on the expected lines but I would let my bat do the talking as I am sure of my comeback in the Indian squad one day,” Raina told to a leading daily.

Raina, who is leading the Gujarat Lions franchise, has so far scored 434 runs from 12 innings.

“Right now I am focusing on my remaining matches in the IPL and would try to score as much as I can for the team’s victory,” Raina said.

Unfortunately, Raina, along with Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur and Dinesh Karthik, was named as stand-by player for the ICC event.

The eight-team tournament will be played in June, with defending champions India pooled with South Africa, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Group B.

India will start their Champions Trophy campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 4.

Squad: Virat Kohli (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (WK), Yuvraj Singh, Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Manish Pandey, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Ajinkya Rahane.
