Welcome to inUth’s digital coverage of Match 4 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 as Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) go up against Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) at Holkar Stadium, Indore. RPS are high on confidence as they won their first game against Mumbai Indians, thanks to Steven Smith who led from the front. It will surely be the ‘battle of the Aussies’ as Glenn Maxwell will be captaining the KXIP side for the first time.
It is going to be a belter of a surface, we would expect a run fest at Indore as the ground is small and the surface will be a batting paradise. We expect a 200 plus score as both the teams have a list of big guns in their squads. The last time these two met MS Dhoni finished the game with a six as RPS needed 23 runs from the last over. It is time for redemption for Axar Patel who was smashed left, right and centre.
England skipper Eoin Morgan too will be featuring in the side, he was one of the best buys of IPL Player Auction 2017. KXIP have a lot of options in the bowling department as well with Ishant Sharma making into the side just in time which also sparked a controversy between KXIP mentor Virender Sehwag and Kolkata Knight Riders’ skipper Gautam Gambhir.
On the other hand, Smith will be high on confidence having finished the game with a six in a nail-biter of a game. Their star bowler Imran Tahir too will be tested on a small ground, he picked up 3 wickets in the previous game and became emotional while thanking RPS for picking him.
We are excited to see whether Ishant graces IPL with his game face challenge against Steven Smith on not, the game-face challenge became quite popular when Ishant tried to troll Smith on the field during Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
