Earlier, riding on a superb bowling display by Mitchell Johnson in the last and deciding over, Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians beat Rising Pune Supergiant by 1 run. Krunal Pandya for his match winning knock of 47 off just 38 deliveries was adjudged the man of the match. His match winning knock guided Mumbai Indian to post 129 runs total on the board. In reply, Pune despite superb display of batting by skipper Steven Smith and Ajinkya Rahane failed to chased down the target of 130 runs. This was the third time that Mumbai lifted the trophy. Previously they won the cash rich league in the year 2013 and 2015.
