IPL 10 KKR vs MI, Game 7, Inning break: Manish Pandey's 81 steers KKR to fighting total

His competitive efforts raised the entire KKR inning from a drowning stage and a total of 178 runs were put on the scoreboard

After ruining the bowlers of the Gujarat Lions in their previous game, the Kolkata Knight Riders lost the rhythm against the Mumbai Indians in the game no 7 of the Indian Premier League 10. The Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians entered into the field with the big men back in the squad. Lasith Maling and Harbhajan were picked for today’s game and the entire Mumbai Paltan looked high on confidence as they were going to take on KKR at their home – Mumbai.

The furious opening pair of Kolkata came on the field to bat as Rohit Sharma had won the toss and elected to field first. It was speculated that again a Gambhir-Lynn show will rock the arena but unlike the previous game, the partnership didn’t go long and the skipper Gautam Gambhir was dismissed after a team total of 44 runs.  Another hard hitter from the Kolkata dugout, Robin Uthappa was dismissed early and went back to pavilion after scoring 4 runs. The moment Chris Lynn departed, the entire KKR batting line-up got throttled for a while.

Meanwhile, the man who came at number 4 Manish Pandey took the responsibility to score and he gradually took the inning forward in his style and spent a pretty good time to take the inning forward. At the middle of the game, he lacked a partner to stand with him throughout but his expectations kept failing. After Lynn’s dismissal, Yusuf Pathan (6), Surya Kumar Yadav (17) and Chris Woakes (9) just came and returned while Pandey was the man who kept on moving forward and finally completed his another half-century in the IPL. His competitive efforts raised the entire KKR inning from a drowning stage and a total of 178 runs were put on the scoreboard. The 2oth over came out to be the most expensive in the entire innings which was bowled by Mitchell McClenaghan and 23 runs came off it.

Mumbai’s field performance was as remarkable as ever. Again a ‘Pandya’ turned the game upside down and it was not Hardik but his brother Krunal. He not only gave the much-needed breakthrough but also took three important wickets of Gautam Gambhir, Yusuf Pathan and Robin Uthappa.

Now, Mumbai needs 179 to win!
