April 14, 2017 will be remembered as a remarkable day for the cricket fans as they witnessed two hat-tricks today in the ongoing tenth edition of the Indian Premier League. The first hat-trick was claimed by spin bowler from West Indies, Samuel Badree. The Caribbean spinner achieved this feat during the 12th match of the tournament between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru.

Coming into bowl in the thirteenth over of Mumbai Innings, Badree first picked up the wicket of Parthiv Patel, followed by Mitchell McClenaghan; and then he clean bowled the MI skipper Rohit Sharma. But, his performance went in vain as Kieron Pollard played a sensible knock to guide his team to register 4 wickets win over Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Later in the day, during the IPL match between Gujarat Lions and Rising Punesupergiant, Lion’s pacer Andrew Tye became the other bowler to achieve the feat.

He entered his name in the records books during the 20th over of Pune innings. He dismissed three Pune batsmen—Ankit Sharma, Manoj Tiwary and Shardul Thakur—in three consecutive balls of the last over.

Following this, Twitter got flooded with the congratulatory messages for the bowlers. Here are some of the reactions:

Earlier, Gujarat’s skipper Suresh Raina won the toss and invited RPS to bat first at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. For the game, Gujarat Lions made four changes in their squad. Pacer Andrew Tye, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, Shadab Jakati and Ishan Kishan replaced Dhawal Kulkarni, Jason Roy, Tejas Baroka and Shivil Kaushik.
