After crushing Bangladesh in the second semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 at the Edgbaston Cricket Stadium in Birmingham on June 15, Virat Kohli-led team Indian will now play against another Asian neighbour Pakistan in the finals of the cricket tournament. India and Pakistan will face each other on June 18 at at The Oval.
Ahead of their clash, former Indian skipper and opening batsman Sourav Ganguly has advised skipper Virat Kohli to go with unchanged playing XI in the finals. Earlier, Ganguly advised Virat Kohli to include Ravichandran Ashwin in the squad against a do-or-die battle against the South Africans. Interestingly, Indians won the game by 8 wickets.
Earlier, India started off their Champions Trophy campaign by beating Pakistan by whooping 124 run via Duckworth-Lewis method on June 4. Virat Kohli & Co. topped their Group B by winning two out of three games with higher net-run rate while Pakistan entered into semis by finishing second.
Meanwhile, Aamir Sohail, former Pakistan coach and opening batsman has made allegations that the Pakistan team (someone from the outside) was fixing matches for them.
This will surely send shockwaves down the spine of ICC, who have tried thier best over the years to keep a lid on matches getting fixed.
“Sarfraz needs to be told that you have not done anything great. Someone has helped you win the game. There is no reason for you (Sarfraz) to be so happy. We all know what happens behind the scenes. Don’t wish to get into the details on who won them the games. If asked, I will say that the prayers of the fans and God has won them the games. They have been brought to the final due to external factors and not based on on-field performance. The boys now need to be level-headed and focus on playing good cricket,” News18 quoted Aamir Sohail as saying this.
