Harbhajan Singh Slams Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul For Bringing Disrepute To The Game

Harbhajan Singh is not happy at all with Pandya-Rahul for letting the team down

Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul’s misogynistic comments on TV chat show Koffee with Karan have been making headlines since the show aired. The episode, which has since been taken down from all streaming platforms, have led to the duo being suspended from all forms of cricket by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from the upcoming Australian ODI series as well as the New Zealand tour.

India’s veteran cricketer Harbhajan Singh has hit out at Pandya an dRahul for their sexist comments, and for being infamy to the Indian cricket team. He expressed concerns over the players’ behaviour off field. He told India Today

“Look, the punishment could be a two-match ban or three-match ban. That will not change anything. Their reputation was at stake, they have lost the trust of their teammates. If he comes and stands next to you at a party, would you like to stand next to him? I will not travel with these two guys in the same bus because of my daughter., if my wife is travelling in the team bus… how would they feel? You are looking at women in only one angle? That’s not right!”

The 38-year-old has played with Pandya for Mumbai Indians (MI) in Indian Premier League (IPL). He commented on how the players had a bad reflection on team’s culture for the past two decades:

“It’s actually hurting us. He is bringing everyone’s reputation at stake, including Sachin Tendulkar’s and all that of these great players who have played for the country for more than 20 years. He’s talking about using his teammates’ room. C’mon man what are you talking about? You have been in the team for only one year. What do you know about the team?”

He also questioned Rahul for the Miami incident in 2016 and ACU for being lenient with the players:

“We never created this kind of culture… party till 5 and come to play the next day. You’re here to play cricket not to do this kind of stuff. When you have free time, you can enjoy, do what you want to do. Obviously, the ACU needs to see, which player is going where. The ACU should report to the BCCI. Where was the ACU when KL [Rahul] was out till 5 in the morning.”
