Dwayne Bravo: The 'Star Trouper' turns a year older today

The West Indies all-rounder is in Mumbai for his 33rd birthday

The West-Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo turns 33 today. While Bravo is known for his all-around performance on-field, his entertaining personality off the field has aptly earned him the title of ‘Star Trouper’

Bravo has been an integral part of the West Indies cricket team. The lethal combination of being an aggressive finisher in the lower batting order and a specialist death bowler has won many matches for the team. Bravo played an integral part on both the occasions when the team won the T20 World Cup tournament in 2012 and 2016.

Bravo began his international cricketing career in 2004. He made his debut in Test matches against England. Overall, in his Test career, he has played 40 matches, scored 2200 runs and took 86 wickets. His highest score in Tests was 113 with west bowling figure being 6/55.

Bravo has so far represented West Indies in 164 ODI matches and has scored 2968 runs. The all-rounder has taken 199 wickets in his career so far with 6-43 as best bowling figures. His highest score being 112 not out. In T20I, he has played 66 matches so far and has taken 52 wickets with his highest score being 66 not out.

Owing to his exceptional skills, Bravo has been a regular in domestic T20 competitions across the world. The 33-year-old began his stint in the Indian Premier League with Mumbai Indias. After the initial three years, he was picked up by Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Bravo became a household name while representing CSK in the following years. At present, he is a part of Gujarat Lions as CSK have been suspended for two years.

While his on-field performance won the hearts of million cricket fans, off the field, he launched his single music Chalo Chalo in 2015. The ‘Champion singer’ recently thanked his fans on Twitter when his song, ‘Champion’, crossed 30 million views on YouTube. Bravo also made a special appearance in the Tamil film, Ula where he sang the song, ‘Yenda’.

Bravo will soon make his debut in Bollywood. As reported by Indian Express, the duo of Bravo and Ankit Tewari will sing the song, ‘Jager Bomb’ for director Anubhav Sinha’s film, Tum Bin 2. The song will be shot in the first week of September and will have special dancers flown down from Romania. Bravo will also learn few lines in Hindi.

The cricketer-singer is in Mumbai at present.

According to a report in TOI, Dwayne Bravo may soon appear in reality TV contest Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 9 as a wild card contestant.
