Daniel Sams And George Bailey's Sweet Gesture For Young Fan Hit By Cricket Ball

Checkup confirmed that the kid hasn't suffered any serious injury.

Spectator injury is not common is cricket, but every once in a while we do hear of incidents that make us cringe. A young fan escaped a major injury during Big Bash League (BBL) 2018-19 match between Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes.  On the first ball of 19th over, George Bailey got hold of a good length and struck it for a big six over long on. The ball rocketed towards the spectators, and hit one of them. The replay on big screen showed the ball bouncing off a kid which got the players’ attention. But what the players did next caught everyone’s attention for the happiness it brought to the small kid.

After the completion of first innings, Sydney Thunder player Daniel Sams rushed to meet the young fan whose guardian was trying to console him to no avail. Seeing him suffering, Sams took a pen from the spectator, took off his cap and gave it to him with his autograph.

Sydney players Shane Watson, Gurinder Sandhu and Chris Jordan stopped to ensure the kid’s safety as well.

The crowd loved Sams’ gesture and let him know how they felt with a loud cheer. Afterwards, Bailey gifted his gloves to the kid in a bid to compensate for the nasty blow. Fortunately, after the checkup it was confirmed that the kid hadn’t suffered any serious injury.
