Sourav Ganguly hit some brilliant lofted shots while playing gully cricket in north Kolkata.

During his international career, he sent shivers down the bowlers’ spine through cracking shots over the ropes. Fondly known as Dada, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly is revered as one of the finest captains the country has ever produced. Even after retirement, Ganguly does not miss an opportunity to bat and remind us of the glorious past. On Sunday, he played gully cricket with the children in narrow bylanes of north Kolkata.

In the latest video gone viral, Dada begins his innings by playing defensive shots. Soon, he begins his attack and plays some brilliant shots in the air. The cricket fans who grew up watching him take on the likes of Wasim Akram, Allan Donald and other feared bowlers will relate to it. The residents of the colony might be worried about the damage to their windows. But, who cares when you get to see one of India’s iconic batsmen playing gully cricket in your colony. The video released by Trending Now has created quite a buzz among the cricket lovers.

In his 15-year-old international career, Ganguly played in 113 Tests and 311 one-day internationals. He scored 7,212 runs in Tests and 11,363 runs in ODIs. He led India in 49 Tests, winning 21 and losing 13. The high point in his career came when the Indian team under him defeated Steve Waugh-led Australia at home in the historic series of 2001. He also captained India in the 2003 World Cup wherein the Men in Blue made it to the finals.

Currently, he is the president of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).
