Wasim Akram wants ICC's ODI No.1 all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez to give up bowling, here's why!

Mohammad Hafeez has vowed to improve his bowling action and get it approved once again by the International Cricket Council

Pakistan’s former all-rounder Wasim Akram has an advice for the No.1 ODI all-rounder according to ICC ODI rankings — Mohammad Hafeez. Akram wants the veteran batsman Hafeez to give up bowling and concentrate on his batting skills. Hafeez’s bowling action was termed as ‘illegal’ by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on November 16. This is the third time the Pakistani all-rounder has been suspended from bowling in international cricket.

Akram told reporters,

I think Hafeez should give up bowling now and just concentrate on his batting. Work harder on his batting. He is experienced and he just needs to work harder on his batting and it will be good for his career.

Here’s how the Pakistani legend supported his statement –

I think Hafeez does not realise that he has been bowling a lot and when he bowls a lot he tends to get tired which is natural and that is when I think his elbow extension exceeds the 15 degrees extension allowed by the ICC.

Hafeez took a strong step to skip Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2017. He aims at utilising this time to rework on his bowling action and get it approved by ICC, which he is entitled to. The 37-year-old tweeted a message for his fans too informing them that we will not ‘give up’.

Though ICC has suspended his bowling action in the international circuit. He is free to bowl in domestic leagues like BPL and Pakistan Super League (PSL) which will start in February 2018.
