Ravichandran Ashwin broke Australian speedster Dennis Lillee’s record to become the fastest bowler to pick 300 wickets in Test cricket.

Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin helped India take a 1-0 unassailable lead in the second Test at Nagpur by an innings and 239 runs. It was Virat Kohli, whose 5th double ton set it up for Ravichandran Ashwin to wreck havoc on Day 4. Ravichandran Ashwin picked up 5 wickets in the second innings, in the process becoming the fastest to 300 wickets. India scored 605 runs for 6 in the first innings and then declared.

The Indian innings comprised of centuries also from Murali Vijay and Rohit Sharma, that also made it the first time that four Indians had scored a century in an innings of a Test match. Virat Kohli has rightly adjudicated the Man of the Match for his brilliant double. This is Virat Kohli’s 19th Test century and his 51st overall ton. This was also the 10th ton in 2017 for Virat Kohli across formats.

India will now head north to the capital, where they will play the third Test at Feroz Shah Kotla. The selection for the upcoming South African series will take place at Nagpur on November 27.
