Virat Kohli breaks New Zealand batsman Bert Sutcliffe's record that stood for 22,632 days!

Virat Kohli is rewriting record books with every run scored at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in the third Test

Virat Kohli has reached a state now where we don’t even realise that he had broken a record like this. Statisticians have to do a detailed digging of their own to know which record Kohli has broken with an innings. With another double century in Test cricket, his 6th to be specific, Kohli broke the record that stood for 22,632 days (almost 62 years). The Indian skipper now has the highest individual score in Delhi.

Kiwi batsman scored 230 runs (not out) against India on December 17, 1955 in Delhi. Kohli struck his sixth double century in Test cricket and surpassed the individual scores.

With his 6th double century in Test cricket, Kohli also broke Windies batting legend Brian Lara’s record of most double centuries as a captain. He also equalled Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag’s tally of double centuries in Test cricket. The 29-year-old is just behind five batsmen in the list of most double centuries in Test cricket.

Though Kohli missed out on another triple century after repetitive halts on Day 2 as Sri Lankan players complained about the smog. Kohli’s concentration might have been disturbed after Sri Lankan players asked Umpire to halt play several times. Kohli was trapped in front of the stumps by Lakshan Sandakan in the second session.
