Sachin Tendulkar on Virat Kohli: I noticed that spark in him which many guys were not fond of

Sachin Tendulkar's latest revelation about Virat Kohli is something the world never knew off

Former cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has made a huge revelation about Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Sachin said he noticed a spark in Kohli while others jumped to criticise him. Virat Kohli had earlier himself talked on a chat show about how people thought that he was brash because he sported tattoos and had a fondness for clothes. But all that changed over the past few years. Today, Virat Kohli is the toast of the cricketing world.

Sachin Tendulkar and legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar were interacting with Harsha Bhogle during the launch of Democracy’s XI: The Great Indian Cricket Story penned by journalist Rajdeep Sardesai. Tendulkar said,

His (Kohli’s) attitude hasn’t changed since he got into the team. I noticed that spark in him which many guys were not fond of and there were many guys who were criticising him for that.

The legendary batsman added,

And today that has become the strength of the Indian team. He hasn’t changed much but people around him have changed. His attitude has changed only because of his performances and it is extremely crucial for a player to have that freedom to express himself.

Tendulkar further said,

I feel today we have got great balance in the team with a lot of spinners that can bat, a lot of seamers that can bat. We saw what Bhuvneshwar (Kumar) did yesterday, people like him (Bhuvneshwar) and Hardik Pandya are going to change the balance when we start travelling.

Virat Kohli recently scored 121 against New Zealand in the 1st One Day International and went past Ricky Ponting to become the second highest century getter in ODIs. Only Sachin Tendulkar stands ahead of Virat with 49 centuries to his name. Virat Kohli is young and with age on his side, he can easily breaching that record.

With New Zealand having beaten India in the 1st ODI by 6 wickets and taken a 1-0 lead, it is crucial for India to win the second match against in Pune to level the series and force a decider.
