Ryan ten Doeschate is redefining fitness at the age of 37 as he took an amazing catch at the boundary and made it look like a cakewalk

Ryan ten Doeschate is often classified as a player who emerged to become a T20 specialist. It seems like age has not taken a toll on the player’s fitness despite being a 37-year-old. Essex skipper Doeschate displayed an amazing effort on the field at the boundary and took Sussex batsman Luke Wright’s catch like a walk in the park. Wright was wreaking havoc as Sussex were setting up for a big score after getting off to a flier in the powerplay overs. Ravi Bopara was bowling his second over of the spell when Wright decided to take him on.

Wright did not make a mistake as he picked the slower one and struck it with brute force. Only three singles came from the first four balls. In order to release the pressure, Wright decided to hit a big one out of the boundary and almost succeeded.

Wright struck the ball right over the head of Bopara. On seeing this, Doeschate came running from straighter long off position. He was running along the boundary and got two hands to catch the ball. Soon he realised that he might get past the boundary and it will be counted as a six. In almost a reflex action he threw the ball back in the air and completed the catch by coming back inside the boundary.

The way Doeschate took the catch looked so swift in real time, he made it look easy for the viewers. Wright’s innings had ended for 37 runs from 23 balls hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes. His wicket was followed up by a runout on the very next ball bringing Essex back into the game.

However, Essex could not do much to restrain Sussex to a modest total. The latter put on 172 for 4 on the scoreboard which turned out to be above par for Essex as they bundled out for 117 with 35 balls to spare.
