Rohit Sharma scored his third double century in ODIs. Rohit also became the first batsman to score a double ton in ODIs as captain. After getting out early in the first ODI against Sri Lanka at Dharamsala, there was pressure on Rohit as captain to lead the team from the front and set an example. Rohit played an unforgiving inning in the second ODI at Mohali and remained unbeaten for 208 runs from 153 balls.
Rohit completed his third double ton in the final over of the innings. As Rohit was inching closer to his double century, his wife Ritika Sajdeh seemed a bit restless in the stands, hoping that he does not lose his wicket. Rohit completed his century with a single and jumped in delight.
India’s stand-in captain took his helmet off and gave a flying kiss to his wife sitting in the stands. His wife got a little emotional after Rohit’s gesture from the ground as she tried to hold back the tears of joy.
