Rohit Sharma plays 'shot of the day', gets applause from his wife Ritika Sajdeh — WATCH

Sri Lanka skipper Thisara Perera won the toss and elected to field in the second ODI against India at Mohali

India’s stand-in captain Rohit Sharma, known for his exquisite timing, played the perfect cover-drive shot to hit a boundary during the second One Day International (ODI) match of the three-match series at the Punjab Cricket Association’s IS Bindra Stadium at Mohali on December 13.

Rohit, who is leading the Indian team in absence of skipper Virat Kohli, showed his class during the third over of the Indian innings as he smashed Suranga Lakmal’s delivery to pierce the offside field with utmost ease.

Rohit’s shot received applause from his wife Ritika Sajdeh, who was watching the match from the stands.

Earlier, Sri Lanka skipper Thisara Perera won the toss and elected to field. After the seven-wicket loss in the Dharamsala opener on December 10, India made one change in their playing XI by handing a debut to teenage all-rounder Washington Sundar in place of chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav. Sri Lanka, however, have gone with an unchanged side.

Meanwhile, Rohit completed his 35th ODI fifty as India reached 157/1 after 28 overs. Shikhar Dhawan departed after scoring 68 and sharing a 100-plus stand with Rohit.

Rohit is batting well and on his way to another ODI century.
