Rohit Sharma batted after 500 days in Nagpur Test, reveals he was nervous!

Rohit came to bat when Virat was heading towards his double ton. He became the fourth man to score a ton in the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka in Nagpur

Rohit Sharma made a comeback in the Indian Test team after more than a year time and proved his worth in Nagpur. In the 2nd Test match Sri Lanka, Rohit could find a place in the playing XI as Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shikhar Dhawan took a break citing personal reasons. Team India’s Hitman made the most of this chance and smashed a hundred which was the third of his Test career.

According to several media reports, after India defeated the Lankans by an inning and 239 runs, Rohit interacted with media and spoke how valuable was this return for him. He said,

“After almost 500 days I was batting in a Test match. I was a bit nervous. Personally, it was a great inning for me. I have both good and bitter experiences in Nagpur.”

“You’ll always have regrets in your life. Even if you score 10,000 runs, you’ll think that you could have score 15,000. But I’m glad that I am back on my feet because when went through an injury, for a moment I thought whether I will be able to walk or not,” he added.

Rohit also spoke about the performance of the Lankans in the game. He said,

“Though they couldn’t perform well, they (Sri Lanka) are a good side. They have recently beaten Pakistan in a Test series. We lost to Pakistan in the 2017 Champions Trophy. That’s how the circle of cricket goes and we shouldn’t consider Sri Lanka as a weaker side.”

Rohit came into bat after Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara were back to the dressing room after getting their respective ton while Virat was heading towards his double ton. He was the fourth man to score a ton in the game.

Speaking about his future plannings, Rohit said,

“I should be ready for what is ahead of me and that’s what matters. Gone is the past which I can never change. Things I can change in future and I’m looking forward to the Delhi Test followed by ODI series and then the South Africa series.”

In a recent development, Rohit Sharma has been appointed as the captain of the team for the fourth coming ODI series against Sri Lanka starting from December 10. Virat Kohli has been rested while Siddharth Kaul has got his maiden ODI call from Team India.
