Ricky Ponting Sets An Example For Coaches, Solves Watson-Rabada Tension Post-Match

90s kids would not have expected former Australian captain Ricky Ponting to do conflict resolution in IPL

Ricky Ponting, a cricketer who is known for his fiery display on the field was seen dousing the flames after Delhi Capitals (DC) clash with Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Ponting tried to solve the differences between South African speedster Kagiso Rabada and his former teammate Shane Watson before the post-match presentation.

The CSK opener had a few run-ins with DC fast bowlers Rabada and Ishant Sharma. In the heat of the moment there were words exchanged between Watson and the bowlers. It was visible right after Ishant took Ambati Rayudu’s wicket in the third over. Ishant threateningly pointed a finger towards the Australian.

Later on, Rabada had a few exchanges with Watson too after the top-edge went for a six. Things escalated to an extent that the umpire Marais Erasmus and DC skipper Shreyas Iyer had to intervene.

But it was the Punter who took it upon himself to round them up and get them to solve their grievances. He even tried to add the fun element by copying Watson’s actions on the field trying to block Rabada’s way. It was calming to see that Rabada-Watson let go of the exchanges on the field after the match.

However, a 1990s kid who has seen Ponting sledge almost every team in the world, wouldn’t have expected him to do conflict resolution.

The Queenslander went on to score 44 runs off 26 deliveries (4 fours, 3 sixes) giving the visitors a good start in the runchase helping them register their second victory of the season.
