Revealed: Sakshi Dhoni contacted Suresh Raina to convey news about Ziva's birth to MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni didn't return home to see his family but chose to be with the team as they were to play the first warm-up against Australia ahead of World Cup 2015

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has made our country proud every time when he has donned the Indian jersey. He is unarguably the best Indian captain to lead the team across all the formats. We have witnessed his dedication towards his game and performance on the cricket field. But off the field, he is indeed a gem of a person. Recently, an interesting fact about him was revealed on the social media which gave his fans and followers a reason to respect and admire him more.

Back in February 2015, when Team India was in Australia to play the ICC World Cup and Dhoni was the captain, Dhoni was blessed with a baby girl whom he later named Ziva. People know that Dhoni didn’t return home to see his family but chose to be with the team as they were to play the first warm-up against Australia.

In a newly released book, written by renowned Indian journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, it has been revealed that Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Singh Rawat had to call Suresh Raina to share the good news. Dhoni didn’t carry a mobile phone thus he came to know about her daughter through Raina.

Juggernaut Books, publisher of the book Democracy’s XI The Great Indian Cricket Story, shared this information on their Twitter Handle:

Later, in a press conference, when the then Indian captain was asked whether he missed being in India for childbirth, Dhoni said,

“Not really. I have been blessed with a baby daughter. Mum and daughter both are good. But as of now, I am on national duties so I think everything else can wait. The World Cup is a very important campaign.

India were the defending World Champions and started their World cup 2017 journey with a massive victory against arch-rivals, Pakistan, However, their voyage ended in the semifinal after losing to Australia.
