Pragyan Ojha loses his cool after being hit for a six, uproots all three stumps with a kick

While the umpire was signalling a six, a furious Ojha kicked the wickets so hard that all the three stumps were uprooted

Cricket is often called the ‘gentlemen’s game’. When the sport was conceived by the British, they made it clear that matches would be played with decency which meant that the players were expected to behave on the field and not indulge in any sledging or cheating etc. However, over the decades, there has been a staunch increase in the number of instances where players lost their cool and ended up in controversial situations. The latest example being of Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha whose actions during a cricket match were found to be highly objectionable.

A few days ago, a video surfaced on social media in which Ojha was spotted kicking the wickets at the non-striker’s end after the batsman hit him for a gigantic six. The left-arm spinner delivered a lower full-toss on which the batsman moved down the line and hit a huge straight six. After hitting the shot, the batsman waved his bat in joy while his partner rushed towards him and gave a hug. While the umpire was signalling a six, a furious Ojha kicked the wickets so hard that all the three stumps were uprooted.

The spinner has been out of the Indian team for a very long time now. He last played an international match for India in 2013 against West Indies in Mumbai which was the last Test match of Sachin Tendulkar’s career. Ojha has played in 24 Tests, 18 One-Day Internationals and six T20Is for India so far and has picked 144 international wickets in total.

After his exit, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have been leading the spin department for India in whites. Ojah was recently released from Bengal Ranjhi side and now has been inducted into the Hyderabad team.
