MS Dhoni gets a Kingly welcome from Chennai as fans chant Dhoni-Dhoni on his return | Watch Video

MS Dhoni's return to Chennai was a memorable one as he rescued Team India from a bad situation and helped them to a fighting total

MS Dhoni got a grand welcome in Chennai as he walked into bat despite losing India in a matter of 16 overs in the first ODI against Australia. Dhoni also got a new name from BCCI as they tweeted the video of his return to Chennai which is often considered to be his second home because of his association with Chennai Superkings (CSK) in Indian Premier League (IPL). The BCCI Twitter handle called Dhoni the ‘King’ as the chants of Dhoni-Dhoni filled the M Chidambaram Stadium and that too at a stage where the team needed a vintage inning from him.

The crowd seemed to forget that India were in deep trouble with the fall of the fourth wicket and opener Rohit Sharma walking back to the pavilion. It felt as if the crowd knew that Dhoni is capable enough to do damage control and rebuild the innings brick by brick like he has done for the most part of the IPL while playing for CSK.

Here’s the video that BCCI posted-

Former Indian cricketer and Star Sports commentator Aakash Chopra went towards the stands and posted a video of the ecstatic crowd.

The Chennai crowd got the worth of their money as Dhoni took the game to the end and then delivering with a few late fireworks to take India to a fighting total in the end. Dhoni scored 79 runs from 88 balls and getting out only in the final over. He shared a game-changing partnership with Hardik Pandya when the team was struggling to even go past 200.

Dhoni is expected to return to his previous IPL franchise, CSK. The two-time IPL Champion team will be playing in IPL 18 along with Rajasthan Royals (RR) after the two-year ban they faced.
