It was the ODI series decider at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch where England and New Zealand faced each other for the last time. But Kane Williamson and Co. failed to make the most of this last chance. While batting first, the Kiwis struggled badly against the English bowling attack. They managed to put a total of 223 runs after getting all out with one ball remaining in their inning.
The Kiwis probably had stepped into the field to defend such a low total with some strategy. However, Jonny Bairstow made sure that England should take the series home. Continuing in his good form, Bairstow smashed an astonishing 58-ball century which turned out to be the third fastest ODI ton for England in ODIs after Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali.

Here’s the list of the top 5 English batsmen who scored fastest ODI tons for their team:
The opening duo of Bairstow and Alex Hales provided a perfect start to the English innings as they added 155 runs to the first wicket. Bairstow ended up scoring 104 runs off 60 balls including 6 sixes and 9 fours.
After his dismissal, Joe Root joined the run chase while Hales (61) and Eoin Morgan (8) were the next two wickets that England lost. Towards the end, Root and Ben Stokes added 37 runs for the 5 wickets and clinched beaten New Zealand by 7 wickets with 17.2 overs to spare.
England won the series by 3-2. Bairstow grabbed the Man of the Match award while Chris Woakes received the Player of the Tournament award.
