James Anderson took 129 Test matches to complete 500 Test wickets, he is by far the leading wicket taker in the current scenario and for England

England’s legendary bowler James Anderson took his 500th Test wicket by cleaning up West Indies opener Kraigg Brathwaite’s stumps. Anderson became the first bowler from England to take 500 Test wickets, he is also the 6th on the list of all-time highest wicket-takers in Test cricket. As soon as Anderson picked the wicket he went running towards his teammates with his arms wide open. Every English cricketer came to congratulate him for achieving this feat. After a few high-fives, Anderson hugged Stuart Broad and got emotional. He tried to keep himself calm while the English crowd gave him a standing ovation. The 35-year-old also waved the ball acknowledging the crowd who were waiting in the anticipation of the 500th Test wicket.

Anderson did not just stop there, he targetted stumps again as opener Kieran Powell was starting to look dangerous. Anderson came round the wicket to Powell and squared him up with a traffic outswinger pitched on the middle stump. The West Indies opener was dumbfounded as he was outsmarted by the master of swing, a once in a generation bowler.

Anderson picked up two wickets in the first innings as well. He took 129 Test matches to achieve this feat, also the slowest to the feat. Anderson still seems to have a few years to go before he retires from Test cricket, he has a chance to become the highest wicket-taker in the history of Test cricket for a fast bowler.

Anderson’s spell will be crucial on Day 3 as well. West Indies lead by 22 runs with 7 wickets in hand. In order to take a lead in the series, England need a few wickets to put pressure on West Indies and restrict the target to a minimum as it is not an ideal pitch to bat on. Keeping all the permutations and combinations in mind, Day 3 of the third Test is expected to be an action-packed one.
