Irfan Pathan gets emotional while celebrating Yusuf Pathan's Ranji ton, leaves his bat at non-striker's end — Watch Video

Yusuf Pathan's centuries could not save Baroda from an 8-wicket loss in the hands of Madhya Pradesh in their first match in Ranji Trophy 2017-18

Irfan Pathan has always been animated in his celebrations from the day he took his first hattrick in Tests. But this time around it was his brother for whom Pathan pumped his fists in the air and celebrated. Pathan scored a century in both innings of the Ranji Trophy match between Madhya Pradesh and Baroda. As soon as Yusuf reached his century with a huge hit, Irfan left his bat at the non-striker end, he shouted at his loudest pitch celebrating his brother’s feat. Irfan walked up to Yusuf while celebrating and gave him a tight hug. He clapped for his brother’s ton and hugged him again as the team started walking back to the pavilion after the session.

Yusuf went on a rampant mode as Baroda’s top order struggled. He resorted to hitting boundaries in his innings and score as many runs as he can and take his team out of danger. He scored 111 runs from 125 balls in the first innings with the help of 13 fours and 6 sixes. Irfan too played well and scored 80 runs from 130 balls featuring 10 fours and 3 sixes. Although the efforts of Pathan brothers were not enough to save Baroda from following on.

In the second innings, Yusuf faced a similar situation. He resorted to big hits yet again and scored 136 runs from 154 balls. His innings had 16 fours and 7 sixes. He stitched a partnership for the 8th wicket with Atit Sheth who scored a century as well. It was his effort that took Baroda out of the danger of losing the match by an innings.

Madhya Pradesh chased down a lowly target of 70 with ease. They won the game by 8 wickets but it was Yusuf who caught everyone’s attention with his two centuries and changing the game single-handedly under the captaincy of his younger brother.
