IPL Auctions 2018: Jayadev Unadkat to Sandeep Lamichhane, records & firsts that were created while bidding

The Indian Premier League Auction 2018 saw a lot of new records were created. It was also surprising in a way to see Chris Gayle and Martin Guptill go unsold. It truly showed that reputations do not matter and it is quality and form franchises will vote for. But for Krunal Pandya and Jayadev Unadkat, it was an auction to remember. Apart from the Indians, Sandeep Lamichhane entered the record books becoming the first Nepalese cricketer to feature in the IPL.

Even the U-19 youngsters from India who are currently featuring in the U-19 Cricket World Cup got good deals. Four U-19 cricketers from India bagged deals in excess of a crore. It also was an auction to remember for Ben Stokes, who bagged a whopping Rs 12.5 Cr, despite having a police case against him.

Jayadev Unadkat became the highest ever Indian bowler to fetch Rs 11.5 Cr.

Ben Stokes became the highest overseas paid player in this year’s auction with Rs 12.5 Cr.

Sandeep Lamichhane became the first Nepalese cricketer to play in the IPL from his country. He fetched Rs 20 lakh for Delhi Daredevils.

Krunal Pandya became the highest paid uncapped player ever, he pipped Pawan Negi to this feat.
