IPL 2018: Yuvraj, Gambhir, Binny & Harbhajan – Will They Play IPL Again? Numbers Say No!

IPL 2018 KKR vs SRH: In this year's IPL, we witnessed some magnificent performances by several players from all the eight franchises

Indian Premier League season 2018 has entered into the final stage. Chennai Super Kings, which made a comeback in IPL 2018 following two-year ban over spot-fixing, are through to the finals.

Wherein, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad would be battling out it today at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata for the second finalist spot.

In this year’s IPL, we witnessed some magnificent performances by several players from all the eight franchises. Youngsters, especially, made their presence count with not just their performances with bat and ball but also with on-field athleticism and breathtaking catches.

While there are some who became overnight sensations, there are also those who disappointed us being the bigwigs.

Here are few of them:

Yuvraj Singh: Once known to be as T20 specialist, Yuvraj Singh failed to impress his fans as he struggled with the bat throughout the season.

This season, Yuvraj played 8 games for the Kings XI Punjab side and could only manage to score 65 runs with 20 being his best. This was probably the worst season for Yuvraj. Throughout this season, Yuvraj struggled with his timings. Yuvi, who once smashed 6 sixes in an over in the inaugural T20 WC, could only manage to hit 2 sixes in IPL 2018.

Besides batting, Yuvi paa struggled with the ball as well. This year, he bowled just 2 overs and gave away 23 runs. Being an all-rounder, Yuvraj needs to work on both the techniques in the nets.

Fitness is also a major concern for Yuvi.

Gautam Gambhir: Delhi lad surprised everyone after he stepped down from captaincy mid-way. He took up the responsibility of Delhi’s poor show and handed over the baton to young Shreyas Iyer. Following then, Gambhir was never included in the playing XI.

He played 6 games for DD and scored 85 with 55 being his highest. Like Yuvi, Gambhir too struggled with his timings. His shot selections were not that upto the mark. Once known for clearing pacers for boundaries with ease, Gambhir, this IPL, struggled against the speedsters.

His running between the wickets was also a key concern for the left-handed batsman.

Stuart Binny: He is the another Indian all-rounder who failed to justify his Rs 50 lakh price tag. Binny became the butt of all jokes on Twitter for his poor show with the bat in eliminator game against Kolkata Knight Riders. Binny was sent up the order to increase the run rate, but the batsman failed to connect all the three balls he faced before being getting out on a duck.

In 7 innings, Binny scored just 44 runs with 22 being his highest. Besides, he remained wicketless in two overs he bowled throughout the IPL season 2018.

Harbhajan Singh: Wherein young spinners like Rashid Khan, Mayank Markande, K Gowtham and others impressed cricket fans with their turn and googlies, one of India’s premier spinners, Harbhajan Singh wouldn’t feature in ‘outstanding bowler’ list this IPL season as he failed to create trouble for the batsmen with arm-spin. He has picked up just 7 wickets in 13 games he played so far. With one more game left for CSK, the numbers won’t be changed drastically for Bhajji.

With the bat, he has just 29 runs under his belt.
