IPL 2018: Suresh Raina To Miss Next 2 Matches Due To Calf Injury

IPL 2018: Murali Vijay, who has been benched for the first two games may get a go

Suresh Raina is the latest casualty for Chennai Super Kings in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. It is a big setback as Suresh Raina is set to miss two big encounters in the early stages of the tournament. Earlier, Kedar Jadhav was ruled out of IPL following a shoulder injury, after he helped CSK win a last-over thriller against Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener. Faf du Plessis is also injured but he is not ruled out as yet. He is on the bench, recovering. Amid all this, CSK’s home venue is also going to be shifted because of the Cauvery water dispute. There is a lot happening in the CSK camp.

As reported by TOI, Suresh Raina, who had suffered an injury, will in all likelihood be out of action for the next two games. TOI quoted a source as saying, ‘his participation is unlikely’. These are not good things happening for a team that is making a comeback to IPL after 2 years. It is a major, major setback for the fans. CSK’s next two games are against Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals.

Raina having some fun with Bhajji, though.

During CSK’s historic run-chase, Raina limped while taking a single against Sunil Narine in the 10th over. The pain was visible as Raina removed his right pad only for the support staff to provide him with some temporary relief.

 WHO GAINS:

Murali Vijay, who has been benched for the first two games may get a go.

Raina is in the twilight of his career but tries to remain fit. He is still one of the best fielders in the Indian Cricket team and puts a lot of emphasis on fitness. It seems he has had a body burnout because of stress, playing excessive games.
