IPL 2018, RR vs MI: Rs 7.2 Crore Recruit Jofra Archer Takes 3 Wickets In An Over — Watch

IPL 2018, RR vs MI: Rajasthan Royals' Big Bash recruit Jofra Archer turned out to be a game-changer against Mumbai Indians

Caribbean bowling sensation Jofra Archer was one of the most talked-about overseas recruits in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 auctions for bagging a whopping Rs 7.2 crore deal with Rajasthan Royals (RR). RR spent big bucks on players this season. Archer missed out on a few matches due to injury and was on the sidelines for others. The 23-year-old made his IPL debut against Mumbai Indians (MI) and stunned them by taking three wickets in a single over and that too a penultimate one.

Archer bowled a dream spell in his debut, taking three wickets and giving just 22 runs in his quota of 4 overs with an economy rate of 5.5 runs per over. The all-rounder choked MI of runs in the penultimate over. First, he got the wicket of Krunal Pandya with a knuckleball as he tried to slog him for a biggie.

It was followed by the other Pandya. Hardik Pandya took him on by hitting a boundary off the first ball. He got the better of Hardik off the next ball, getting his wicket with a delivery that clocked 145.6 kmph.

Mitchell McClenaghan came to bat but went back into the dugout without troubling the scorers. McClenaghan got knocked over by an even faster delivery. The 149.2 kmph thunderbolt went through everything and shattered the stumps. Archer had a chance to get a hat-trick but Mayank Markande flicked the ball safely towards square leg.

The Windies all-rounder replaced Australian bowler Ben Laughlin in the side. The 23-year-old has played for Sussex in County cricket. He rose to fame after his successful stint for Big Bash 2017-18 runner-ups Hobart Hurricanes. He even stunned Ben Cutting after taking an unreal return catch off his bowling earlier this year.
