IPL 2018, RR vs KKR: Dinesh Karthik Gives MS Dhoni Tough Competition, Pulls Off Lightening-Fast Stumping — Watch

IPL 2018, RR vs KKR: Dinesh Karthik's fortunes have changed since he was made the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 11

There was a time when MS Dhoni was preferred over Dinesh Karthik for the Indian team. As for the wicketkeeping skills of both the wicketkeepers are concerned, there is not much difference. But now, Karthik has pulled off one of the fastest stumpings in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018.

Ajinkya Rahane was playing well, smashing bowlers one after the other. Rahane even became the first IPL player to smash four boundaries in a row off Sunil Narine. Karthik introduced Nitish Rana into the attack in the 7th over of the match. Rahane came down the pitch in order to strike the ball, but it struck his pads instead. Rana appealed for leg-before-wicket. However, Rahane did not have a clue where the ball had gone.

Karthik was quick to anticipate, he caught hold of the ball and threw it back at the stumps in one quick motion. The reaction time from Karthik was extraordinary as the Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper was nowhere to be seen near the crease.

It will not be an exaggeration to say that Rahane’s wicket might be the turning point of the game. Rahane was in good nick and had scored 36 runs from 19 balls, including 5 fours and 1 six.

Here’s another stumping from Karthik’s career. Similar, you think?

Rana bowled yet another crucial spell right after the powerplay overs. He gave just 11 runs in 2 overs and took the wickets of the openers including D’Arcy Short, who fell short of scoring his maiden IPL fifty by 6 runs.
