IPL 2018, KKR vs RCB: Watch Nitish Rana Make History — Dismisses Kohli, De Villiers In Consecutive Balls

IPL 2018, KKR vs RCB: The only two bowlers to have done the same in the past are Thisara Perera and Jacques Kallis

Kolkata Knight Riders took on Royal Challengers Bangalore in their season opener at the Indian Premier League 2018 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. It is the third match of the season and KKR’s new captain Dinesh Karthik won the toss and opted to bowl first. RCB got off to a good start, thanks to Brendon McCullum’s efforts. But the spell wasn’t long-lived as he departed for 43 off 27 balls to Sunil Narine. Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers got the innings back on track from 63 for 2 to 127 for 3.

RCB was going all guns blazing with the momentum on their side. That is when Karthik decided to give an over to the unheralded Nitish Rana. To no surprise, the inexperienced bowler was hit for a six off his first ball.

But then what we saw was nothing short of incredible. Just when we thought it is going to be a long over for Rana, he picked up AB de Villiers, who was looking to pull the ball for a six to mid-wicket. He top-edged the ball, and Johnson took the catch and also made it look ridiculously easy. AB was gone for 44 off 23 balls, his innings comprised of 5 sixes. He was dealing in sixes when his wicket fell.

Virat Kohli who had changed over while the catch was taken, was on strike. Rana came up with a full-length yorker, Virat seemed a touch too late to bring his bat down in time. He was bowled. Rana had done the impossible — he had picked up the ‘two’ most prized wickets in the world off two consecutive deliveries. The only two bowlers to have done it in the past are Thisara Perera and Jacques Kallis.
