It’s the match number 19 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 and it’s between two sides led by two phenomenal cricketers hailing from Delhi. The Delhi Daredevils (DD) will play the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Both the sides haven’t had a great stint in the tournament so far and are currently at the bottom of the points table. The side which takes the game home tonight will earn two more points and will rise up in the tally.
Both the camps are decorated with classic cricketers. Before yet another exciting game in this season, let’s have a look at the milestones which they can achieve tonight:
12 Ducks — Delhi skipper Gautam Gambhir has been dismissed 12 times for a duck in the IPL so far. If he fails to open his account against the RCB bowling attack tonight.
6 dismissals for a duck — Virat and Brendon McCullum have been dismissed 6 times for ducks in the IPL so far. If they get another tonight, he will go past Ashoke Dinda, Pragyan Ojha, Lasith Malinga, Mithun Manhas, TM Dilshan, S Badrinath, Chris Gayle and Ravindra Jadeja to join the club of players who got out for a duck 7 times, including Suresh Raina, Shane Warne, David Warner, Virender Sehwag and Adam Gilchrist.
401 boundaries — After a magnificent inning in the previous game against the Rajasthan Royals, Virat Kohli has equalled the record of David Warner with 401 boundaries. He needs just one to surpass the forward SRH skipper but he still requires 12 to surpass Suresh Raina (411 boundaries).
167 sixes — This is AB de Villiers’s six-count in this tournament so far. He needs 8 more sixes to become the third batsman with most sixes in the IPL history. In that case, he will surpass Suresh Raina who has 174 sixes in his name. Universe Boss, Chris Gayle, however, is way ahead of them with 280 sixes.
36 fifty-plus scores — The skipper of both the sides, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir, have the equal number of fifty-plus scores so far in the IPL. It’s the competition between the Delhi boys and will be interesting to see who goes ahead.
73 wickets — Wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, the all-time highest wicket-taker of RCB, has a chance to go past Morne Morkel (77 wickets), Dhawal Kulkarni & L Balaji (76), Munaf Patel (74) and Sandeep Sharma (73).
98 Wickets — Umesh Yadav is currently in red-hot form and has 98 wickets under his belt. If he plucks two more tonight against his former team, he will enter the 100-wickets club.
1 maiden over — If Amit Mishra bowls one maiden over against the RCB, he will surpass Zaheer Khan and Munaf Patel and equal Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s record of 6 maidens so far in the IPL.
Virat Kohli is currently the highest run-scorer in this season and holds the purple cap. However, his team is still in search of a victory and a place somewhere at the top of the points table.
