IPL 2018, CSK vs DD: Dhoni Overtakes Gambhir's Record Of Most Runs As Captain

IPL 2018, CSK vs DD: With Dhoni's fiery half-century along with Watson's 78 and Rayudu's 41 runs, Chennai Super Kings posted 211 runs in the first innings

With the return of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the eleventh edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), it seems like MS Dhoni has also got back the charm of his batting. Known as one of the best finishers in the world, Dhoni has been enjoying his purple patch this season. Last time when CSK played Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Bengaluru, he finished the game with a gigantic six while chasing a total of 206 runs. And today, when they hosted Delhi Daredevils (DD) in Pune, Dhoni smashed several records while batting first.

MS Dhoni came to bat at Number 4 when Shane Watson lost his wicket to Amit Mishra after playing a magnificent knock of 78 runs off 40 balls. Dhoni didn’t take much time and started dealing in sixes and fours. By the end of 20 overs, the CSK skipper had scored 51 runs off 22 balls, which turned out to be his second-fastest fifty in this cash-rich tournament. In 2012, he took 20 balls to score a half-century against Mumbai Indians (MI), which was his fastest in this tournament.
