IPL 2018: Virender Sehwag predicts winner of the 11th edition, it's not CSK or MI

578 out of 1,122 players will go under the hammer during this year's IPL players' auction to be held in Bengaluru on January 27, 28

The 11th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to kick-start from April 7 in Mumbai with the revised timings. This edition is going to be more exciting as two-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is making a comeback into the tournament following the 2-year ban in connection with the spot-fixing scandal.

Besides CSK, Rajasthan Royals team will also feature in the cash-rich league, which will conclude in Mumbai on May 27.

According to the revised timings (as requested by official broadcaster Star Sports), the 8 p.m. games are being advanced by an hour while the 4 p.m. afternoon games have now been pushed to 5.30 p.m.

Ahead of the start, former Indian cricketer and commentator Virender Sehwag has predicted the winner of the 11th season and it’s not CSK or the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI).

On being asked to predict the winner of the IPL 2018, Sehwag, who is the director (cricket operations) for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), gave an interesting answer.

“This year, I would want a franchise who has never won the tournament to lift the title. Whether it’s Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils or Royal Challengers Bangalore, one of these teams should win the title which will increase the level of competition in the tournament,” Shewag told Cricket Next.

Meanwhile, a total of 578 players out of 1,122 will go under the hammer during this year’s IPL players’ auction to be held in Bengaluru on January 27, 28.

KXIP has retained only Axar Patel and has sent the rest of the players in the auction pool. KXIP has never won a title since the tournament started in 2008.
