Team India is not a divided bunch as many may have been speculating, at least the players are not. Indian cricket team is currently touring the Caribbean islands for a short series with West Indies. The first One Day Internationals (ODI) was washed off and then in the second ODI they showed why the men in blue are feared across the world by defeating the hosts by 105 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the 5-match series. This is an Indian cricket team that has been successful over a fair amount of time. The factor that has played a pivotal role in that is their upgraded fitness levels. Traditionally, India is not known like South Africa or Australia or New Zealand to produce athletic fielders but this Indian team has washed off those myths by raising their fitness levels.
Leading the bandwagon in this department is the blue-eyed boy of Indian cricket and the current captain Virat Kohli. He has paved the way for others to really focus on the fitness levels, especially the lower half of the body, which provides all the strength.
For this Indian team they believe success is directly proportional to fitness and Mahendra Singh Dhoni has shown why. He is the veteran in this team but is probably the quickest between wickets and that helps in crunch games. Yesterday was an off-day for the Indian cricket team, so they could easily have taken their time off and gone for shopping or watching a movie or just go out for a drink. But this bunch is different.
Shikhar Dhawan recently took to his Instagram account and posted a video just to show how are the men in blue spending their time. Dhawan, Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh were seen in the gym, doing some work out and losing the extra calories, which they must have attained after Dwayne Bravo’s dinner.
The status read, “Off day or not , training is alwys on with fun !!“
In the video, one can spot Dhawan doing squats which helps in the strengthening of the legs.
