It has been 3 matches now that youngster Rishab Pant has not been included in the playing XI. After second ODI, it was speculated that he might be inducted into the team in place of Yuvraj Singh but the young Indian batsman has to wait a bit more to make his ODI debut. Despite Yuvraj’s poor performance in this season so far, skipper Virat Kohli didn’t drop in the previous game where he managed to score 39 runs off 55 balls. In the first two games, Yuvraj’s bat has remained quiet as he scored only 4 and 14 runs in those games.
On the other hand, the Indian squad still has a better option in the form of Rishab Pant. This young lad from Roorkee first appeared in the final T20 against England in the month of January earlier this year. Later, in the Indian Premier League 2017, he played for the Delhi Daredevils and was one of the star performers for the team. In the 10th edition of IPL, he scored 221 runs with an average of 26.14 and hit 2 fifties. He had also scored a ton in IPL 2016.
And now, after all these achievements on his report card, he is still waiting for a chance in the ODIs. Meanwhile, the Twitterati expressed their displeasure when they came to know that Pant was still benched for yet another game and this is what they all have to say:
