Ashish Nehra gets a new role, to share commentary box with Virender Sehwag

Ashish Nehra and Virender Sehwag have been buddies since the Ranji Trophy days

Former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra, who retired from all forms of cricket on November 1, gets a new role ahead of India vs Sri Lanka series starting November 16. Star Sports, the official broadcaster of India vs Sri Lanka matches, on November 15 announced that Ashish Nehra will do the Hindi commentary alongside Virender Sehwag. Nehra hinted in interviews before and after his retirement that he is open to the idea of commentary and coaching in the future.

Here’s the tweet from Star Sports confirming the news:

Here’s how Sehwag reacted to the news:

His interview with Gaurav Kapur in the show Breakfast with Champions was in the limelight because of his puns. Even Indian skipper Virat Kohli revealed that Nehra is the funniest one to be with in the dressing room. And that he can make anything sound funny.

Sehwag and Nehra’s combination is going to be an interesting one, given Sehwag and Nehra’s sense of humour.

India are to play Sri Lanka in the first Test at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. However, the rain threat looms large over the first Test. Though the President of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly assured that the ground will be ready within 20 minutes if the rain stops. The covers are on at Eden Gardens as fans in Kolkata gear up for the longest form of cricket.
